Lusaka, Zambia, 26 May 2026 – Zambia is hosting an Expert Group Meeting under the AfCFTA Implementation Review Mechanism (AFIRM) from 26–29 May 2026 in Lusaka.
The meeting forms part of AFIRM, a continental process designed to support State Parties in assessing progress, identifying gaps and strengthening the implementation of their commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Over the four-day engagement, experts in Trade in Goods, representatives from government institutions, the AfCFTA Secretariat, the private sector and other stakeholders are reviewing draft assessment findings, implementation scores and recommendations aimed at strengthening Zambia’s readiness to trade under the AfCFTA framework.
The discussions are also expected to identify legal, institutional, regulatory and operational areas requiring further action to support deeper intra-African trade and regional integration.
The meeting follows the successful conclusion of similar Expert Group Meetings held in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, the United Republic of Tanzania and Uganda as part of ongoing efforts to support effective implementation of the AfCFTA across the continent.
