1 June 2026 – On the margins of the 2026 Korea–Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, met with H.E. Corinne Amori Brunet, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Benin.
During the meeting, H.E. Mene congratulated Minister Brunet on her recent appointment and reaffirmed the Secretariat’s commitment to working closely with Benin to advance the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The Secretary-General also expressed his intention to undertake an official visit to Benin to engage with government officials and key stakeholders on opportunities to accelerate AfCFTA implementation, deepen regional integration and strengthen Benin’s participation in Africa’s single market.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the AfCFTA Secretariat and the Government of Benin to advancing Africa’s economic integration agenda and unlocking the opportunities presented by the AfCFTA for businesses and citizens across the continent.
